Wow leaving OI

From OiWiki

This policy is to ensure that those leaving Oi are treated the same and establish expectations for all guild members when it comes to leaving the guild.

Contents

Background

It is not the desire or intent, nor is it our business to dictate what any paying member of World of Warcraft does with their toons. However, once you join OI, your actions have a direct impact on many other people besides yourselves.

The policies represented here are to help mitigate any negative impacts you may have on any of OI's members in regards to leaving or returning to the guild.

Definitions

Leaving on Good Terms. This typically involves notifying someone on the officer team to discuss why you have left. It also involves a polite goodbye both in guild chat and on the forums.

Leaving on Bad Terms. This typically involves leaving with no notification, ranting negatively in guild chat or on the boards right before leaving, rage quitting, ninja looting or using OI to gear raid toons for eventual leaving. Guild quitting in a state of rage or anger is frowned upon, and eats away at your credibility with other members. You’re better served by logging off instead of quitting. As a member spends time raiding with OI, there becomes an expectation that you will remain with OI to help achieve the progression with end game content. When you leave the guild because perhaps OI is not going as fast as you wanted, or someone has lured you away to their guild with promises of phat loot and glory, please realize you disappoint many friends & team mates within the Oi community who have been by your side making it possible for you to gear up. When you leave, it hurts other raiders as they attempt to progress without you by their side any longer.

Guideline

As a general rule, if a member wishes to leave OI, it is possible to leave in good standing, without burning bridges. Before you leave, please talk to an officer and express why you want to leave. More often then not, simply talking things out can change your mind about leaving the guild. Also, please post a simple good bye message on our forums to explain why you’ve decided to leave OI.

However, in all cases, when a character has removed all of their Characters from the guild, and they wish to return, the member will undergo the traditional 2 week trial period as adept before being reinstated to the disciple rank.

Policy

If it has been determined by the Officer team that a member has left OI on “Bad Terms” and brought harm to or created a disturbance within our community - The officer core may initiate a discussion & perhaps even a vote on the removal of that members remaining alts. (Removing active lvl 85 mains, removing multiple toons at once, removing active raiding toons, or removing the same toon more than once will increase the likelihood of an officer vote to remove remaining alts.)

If the toon is labeled a Main, please notify an officer who will be the new main so that we can make adjustments to the roster.

To discourage a revolving door effect within the guild removing toons and reentry to the guild are limited.

Removal of Mains: Level 85 main toons are limited to leaving and reentering the guild twice. Each time a main is removed a new main must be designated. The third time a main is removed by any one player the door may be closed. The officer core may initiate a vote for removal of all toons if the coming and going is creating a disturbance within the membership. Level 85 toons that have signed the 25 man EPGP Raider contract may be held to a higher standard.

Removal of Alts: Alts may come and go as they please with one exception. Alts that are signed to the 25 man EPGP raiding contract will be treated as a main and be counted when determining the the number of times a main has been removed before closing the door(see above Removal of Mains).

Members Purged Due to Inactivity

Members (characters) labeled as "main" not played for TWO months or more will be removed/purged from the guild so that the guild roster can be kept in order for active members. Alternative (alt) characters that are inactive for ONE month will be removed. We encourage members who know they are going to be leaving the game for an extended time to post on the forums allowing the community to know of your plans. We understand that this is not always possible. If you are Disciple rank and return to the game after an extended leave only to find your main character or all characters have been purged it is possible to return to your rank of Disciple IF you posted a good bye thread OR you post a message notifying the community of your return. The officers reserve the right to refuse re-admittance even if these terms are met if it’s determined that readmitting a person will cause disruption or other issues within the guild.

If you login to your alt and find it’s been purged please contact an officer. As long as you are a member in good standing (Disciple rank) the alt will be re-invited to the guild.

Member Access to Boards

A member is only guaranteed to have access to the WoW OI Alliance portion of the boards if they have one more active toons rostered. If there are no active toons rostered, accesses to the WoW OI Alliance portion of the boards may be revoked due to forum maintenance. If you feel your access has been revoked unfairly please contact an administrator of the forums (Bedevere, Sin, or Eronoel) and they will research your claim.

Removing raiding toons from the guild

Oi is: a diverse community guild with a focus on friends, fun, & a comfortable social gaming environment.

- All our members have numerous options for guild based fun & entertainment, including 25man PvE content!

Oi is not: a hardcore raiding guild, but we’re not careless & sloppy either.

- We raid for “fun & excitement”, balanced with “raiding guidelines & standards”, and seasoned with a dash of “reliability & dependability” to keep all those interested in raiding on the track for successful guild 25man raids.

Oi is not: a stepping stone for members to gear a toon with the desire to “leave” Oi and join hardcore raiding guilds.

- Oi raiding is a team & social environment where each of the 25man members present rely & depend on each other. We celebrate together, we wipe together, we progress together, and we face defeat together. When a toon that has been raiding 25man content with Oi is removed from the guild, the community & your fellow guild mates do suffer!

Question: So what do we do about this issue? Answer: We leave it up to YOU to decide!

· Oi is NOT “Hotel California” (where you can log out anytime, but you can never leave) LOL!

· Our Disciple members DO have the freedom to add toons & remove toons from the guild as long as the member follows our flexible & fair guidelines found within this guild wiki topic “Leaving Oi” above.

· Our Disciple members DO have the freedom to raid with 2 of their toons and choose to play up to 4 different specs (tank, heal, melee DPS, & range/caster DPS) with the guild in 25man PvE content.

· Our Disciple members DO have the freedom to swap out one (1) of their two (2) toons for another toon for 25man raids – once per year by sending a PM to our Raid Officer.

Freedom of Choice:

1. If a member chooses to remove one of their current two (2) toons from Oi that they raid 25man content with, they can only raid with the remaining toon and can not add a replacement second toon for 25man PvE content with Oi for 6 months.

2. If a member chooses to remove both of their current two (2) toons from Oi that they raid 25man content with, they can not raid 25man content with any of their Oi guilded toons for 6 months (if this is a low leveled alt, the timeframe starts from when they hit 80 & if a member who has left Oi "rejoins", the timeframe starts on the date they rejoined Oi). **If a member only had one toon listed to raid 25man content, the same applies: they can not raid 25man content with any of their Oi guilded toons for 6 months

Consequences of Choice:

1. If a member who has left Oi with a toon that had EPGP from Oi 25man raids and later returns to Oi with that toon, that toon will be ineligible to join any 25man guild raids nor able to earn EPGP until that toon has been in the guild for 6 months after their return date.

2. Any toon with EPGP that has been removed from Oi or swapped out for a different raiding toon will have their EPGP reset to zero and will be ineligible to join any 25man guild raids nor able to earn EPGP until that toon has waited 6 months.
