Premise
- Rank should be based on time in-guild and accomplishments
- Entire guild should have input into advancements; nominations and promotions can occur anytime
Strategos - Illuminatus / Elders
The Inner Circle: This is the Council of Guild Leaders. The Inner Circle speaks with authority that is immutable and intractable. Admittance to the Inner Circle is only available by special invitation and cannot be revoked except under special circumstances.
Requirements:
- At least 6 months active membership
- Online within the last week
- Nomination, Approval and Promotion by Council of the Illuminati
- Active forum participation
Powers/Privileges:
- All those listed for other ranks (this includes participating in,
promoting and contributing to all of the different duties and activities discussed)
Taxiarchos - Stalwarts
Stalwarts are members recognized for outstanding service and contribution to the guild. Typically having served multiple terms as a commander and/or captain, they have proven themselves worthy to stand in for any of these positions and hold a rank commensurate with that trust. Stalwarts are expected to reflect the direction set by the Inner Circle by speaking to them and for them when they are not available directly. They are also expected to help Section Commanders and Duty Captains, to whom they are set as an example of excellence in community service. It should also be noted that even though Stalwarts retain a functional rank higher than the Section Commanders, they still are expected to follow the directions of Section Commanders when it comes to related events/responsibilities.
Think of Stalwarts as the veteran voice of the guild. Having the experience and trust of the guild and leading by example, not necessarily by command (example: a high-ranking officer who "retires" from his or her position but remains active). Stalwarts should realize that they are not direct officers; they are veterans and supporters. They are the people in the guild who "step up" and make sure that stuff gets done, even if they aren't "in charge" of it. They are people who a new member can ask a question and get honest help and feedback on. They take time to take a newbie on an instance run or give them some gear. Ideally they should be the best of us. "Yeah, I love teaming with X because s/he's always fun and helps me out. And I needed some tin the other day and s/he had some s/he could spare." They have authority to speak on behalf of people, but if the real person was around, they should always defer to them. If they need to question, it should always be in private. Being a Stalwart is like the best reward/recognition the guild can give. They should be few in number, but exceptional players.

Phalanx - Duty Captains
Each Section Commander may appoint any number of Duty Captains to assist them with thier respective duties. Duty Captains may have a very specific or very broad focus. Though not elected, a member of the Inner Circle must confirm each appointment. Duty Captains have a minimum requirement of 2 months duration of service and be a member. Duty Captains also act as deputies or backups in the event a commander is unavailable.
Class Captains: These are a specific type of Duty Captain: the go-to veterans of the guild that are active and knowledgeable in their respective classes. These are the people that will ensure that others of their class are performing at peak and understand the class; they will foster communication between our members and our leadership. If used effectively, they will strengthen our individuals in raids and sieges via knowledge and guidance.
Other Duty Captains: As described above, they are appointed by Section Commanders to assist w/ specific tasks. All Duty Captains (including Class Captains) are subject to the following criteria:

Chiliostys - Grunt/Soldier/Apprentice
The main ranks. One suggestion here is to allow commanders/captains to draft members/recruits into groups reflecting their section and creating a contest/point system in the guild for friendly competition. Points could be redeemed for something fun/useful.

Conscript - Initiate
becomes a full member after min. 1 month and a "feat of prowess". The feat is highly situational. Maybe reaching 80 if they weren't when they joined; extraordinary raid save or mini-game victory; a well done RP story or idea for a fun hosted event. Something that gives them a sense of accomplishment and a feeling that they have brought something to the group.
Powers/Privelges:
- Full access to general forums
