General Rules
OI is a community that prides itself in providing a fun, safe, and comfortable gaming environment for all of its members in its various chapters. As such, all of the rules below reflect that and strive to provide a environment that is not only all of the things previously mentioned but one of equality, openness and fairness.
Please make sure you fully understand the rules written below before you sign on to any chapter of the Order of Illuminatus and agree to any and all Terms of Use (ToU) and End User License Agreements (EULA) for any game you intend to play. Action may be taken against any member found to be violating the ToU or EULA from a warning to removal from the guild and/or community.
We currently have 4 active chapters - this charter pertains to those chapters and any other future chapters as well
- World of Warcraft Oi Draka (Alliance) & Oi Eitrigg (Horde)
- Star Wars Galaxies
- Age of Conan
- Champions Online
(please be aware that some chapters update their wiki pages more often than others - for most current information it may be best to post on the forums)
Conflict Resolution
If you have any problems with another guild mate do the following:
- Attempt to resolve the conflict with the person directly FIRST.
- If you cannot resolve the conflict feel free to contact an officer/guild leader of the guild. Hopefully they will be able to act as a mediator in the situation and resolve the situations peacefully. If you are accusing someone of something make sure you take screen shots of the incidents and submit them to the officer/guild leader to clarify your case.
- Each one of you is a OI'ster, none better, and none worse. The leadership will strive to provide the most fair and just conclusion they can with the evidence provided. The goal is to again, maintain safety, fairness, and equality for all members. If this is not possible then other measures will need to be taken.
Guild Pricing
- Cut Guild mates some slack with pricing! (craftables, item drops, etc) - We are all in the same guild so cut each other breaks on prices or even go so far as to give away loot to guild mates. Reciprocity does exist - it's not just a theory.
- If a guild mate gives you an item, don't turn around and sell it, as that is extremely rude and could be grounds for removal from the guild. If you decide not to use a given item - donate the item to the guild.
Forum Participation
All members are STRONGLY encouraged to register on the forums and read their respective game chapters section at least once a week. Please feel free to chat with the other members of the larger gaming community (The Order of Illuminatus) as we all believe in the same ideals and have some of the common interests. The more you participate in the forums, the more you are likely to feel a part of something larger then yourself.
Guild Etiquette
Respect
Respect each other guild members and other players alike. There should never be any racial, sexual or religious name-calling. In other words don't call anyone something you would not call your mother.
For example, please try to be conscious of the people playing with you many of whom might lead life styles different than yours. Do not say, "Man that instance is so GAY!?" When you really meant to say, "that instance is so stupid!?" The example just given falls into the category of "sexual" or sexual orientation descrimination as it qualifies a lifestyle as being "stupid". You also wouldn't call something or someone a jew(ish) in a derogatory fashion as this is obviously a racial insult.
Respect for the community. As a community we have many venues to voice your concern and provide feedback in order to effect the structure of the guild. A member choosing to take their feedback to an outside forum/venue and publicly voice their disdain and/or bash the guild or any of it's members is showing lack of respect for the community that they are a part of. Doing so will be grounds for dismissal from the guild.
Language
Swearing is fine, but use it in moderation, a string of swearing just reflects immaturity and you will be warned if your language gets out of hand. Swearing of any kind is NOT condoned on any non-guild chat channel. Refrain from cursing in public channels. The use of defamatory, derogatory, or offensive terms/names is also frowned upon. Members should be remain respectful and avoid offending others. Common courtesy, mutual respect, and consideration are principles Oi was founded upon.
Role Playing
There is a time and a place for adult or sexual role play. Guild chat or shared channels are never a good choice for such role play. These activities should be confined to private chats or channels in which all attending are willing participants. While we are a mature guild we do have some members who are under aged or who do not want to participate in these sorts of activities. As always common curtesy and respect for your guild mates should be your guide.
Begging
Do not beg from guild mates or anyone else for that matter. Begging is asking for an item/money/gold repeatedly, either one time after another or every time you log on asking for freebies. If you go around Ironforge spamming (or sending tells) asking for money or handouts you?re making a bad name for the guild.
Harassment
Harassment of a fellow guild member or any other player is strictly forbidden. Harassment is defined as the continued verbal, written or gestured communication which the recipient finds offensive, distracting or intimidating. Consequences of this behavior shall be the sole discretion of the officer body. This rule covers all media monitored by Order of Illuminatus which include, but are not limited to:
- Any game in which OI is a part and all forms of communication/interaction within those games. (World of Warcraft Guild, Star Wars: Galxies and Guildwars guild chats, party chats, general chats and all other chat channels both private and public.)
- Ventrillo / Voice Chat communication
- Order of Illuminatus Website and forums (to include Private message)
Disciplinary Actions
First Offense
Depending on the severity a person will get a warning and a note will be made on your character (and all alts) regarding the behavior.
Second offense
Again, depending on the severity of the behavior, you could possibly be booted from the guild and player will be demoted further.
Third offense
You will be booted from the guild and your forum account (IP address), TS account (if you have one) will all be banned from the respective services.
Ventrilo
Currently Order of Illuminatus runs a Ventrilo server for use by all of our members. Ventrilo is a system that allows voice communication via an internet connection. The Ventrilo server does not have a minimum age requirement to use. However, immature or offensive discussions are prohibited. The use of Ventrilo is encouraged in ANY guild event or group/raid and therefore is falls under the same rules and penalties as described in section 2.
Please visit our Ventrilo Information Page for set up and download information.
Additionally, if you have any questions setting up your Ventrilo ask one of the officers and they will try to help you out.
Officer Responsibilities
Officers in the Order of Illuminatus are made up of two groups. The two groups are equal in title and duties. In all cases, the officers are equal in input and decision strength.
The first group of officers are the Founding Members. This is a list of members who were present at the inception of the guild: Eronoel, Illustrial, Izatea and Sintax. It is their signature on the charter that made the guild possible. In honor of that, each founding member has been entitled as an officer. The title of founding member is permanent. The founding members have the right and responsibility to oversee all chapters of OI and those that share the guild website. They shall have the right to give their opinion in particular to guild issues which concern the guild charter and vision for the guild. Unless actually holding an "elected" position, none of the guild founders shall have the right to vote in officer or raid leader decisions. Additionally, founders should not vote in guild wide votes or elections unless they are active members in that particular chapter of the the community.
The second group of officers is made up of elected players. This position is awarded to a member who, through the election process, has been chosen by the guild as a qualified leader. This position is not permanent and can be revoked with a two thirds officer vote. Elections for officers from the players in OI shall be conducted when an officer position becomes available. Eleven Officer positions are available.
Forum Moderation
All officers are required to check the forums of their respective chapters at least once per week so that they might stay up to date on any important guild issues. (redacted: "They also are moderators of whatever game forum they are officers in." - this is cuurrently under review)
Enforcement
Officers are the administration of the guild. It is your responsibility to enforce the rules to the best of your abilities and if you cannot do it adequately (or alone) ask another officer to help you.
Administration
Officers are charged with the responsibility to handle all guild business as is appropriate. In execution of this, all Officers must make themselves available for officer meetings and forum discussions when they come available, if possible. There will be a moratorium on official guild business within a time period of 3 days before, during, & 3 days after a major holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years Day). No new measures, changes, or guild business will be conducted during these time frames to allow officers to spend time away from the game. If there is a major problem or guild emergency during a holiday time period, officers can utilize the emergency contact information to reach the guild leader or other officers. All other guild related business must wait to be posted, discussed, etc. - until after the holiday moratorium period has passed.
for more specific information on officers please see Officers
AWOL
(absent without leave) members otherwise known as the "No Play = No Stay" rule
Members (characters) labeled as "main" not played for TWO months or more will be removed from the guild so that the guild roster can be kept in order for active members. Alternative (alt) characters that are inactive for ONE month will be removed. Personal belongings will be left on the street. :D
Do NOT depend on a purge being announced. Keep your characters active if you are interested in staying in the guild. If you are taking a break from the game, please notify an officer or make a post on the forums so we can give you some extra time before you are purged.
World of Warcraft Specific
Loot Rules
- GREED ROLL on all Bind on Equip (BOE) greens and blues, if it's an upgrade say so and it is yours. (With the addition of the Disenchant Option, you may click DE instead of Greed)
- PASS on all Bind on Pick up (BOP) (click the red X), no exceptions unless laid out in advance.
- PASS on all Epic (click the red X)(purple) items. Firstly need for the item will be decided, if no need is found then greed will ensue (/roll).
Note: The term ‘Ninja’ is one applied to a player who rolls on a BoP item after all other members have passed or rolls Need on an item after all other members have rolled greed. This action is strictly prohibited and will be dealt with immediately. (Need rolls on BOE green & blue items also classifies as 'ninja', players should greed roll or pass on such BOE items).
Guild Ranking System
Officer Ranks
Officers gain ranks by being the best OI’ster they can be and by being elected into that position by the member core.
- Illuminati Magus (Guild Leader) - all abilities - Full bank Access
- Officer - (Guild Officer) has the ability to add/remove/demote/promote - Virtually unlimited bank access.
Non-officer Ranks
The non officer ranks have been established as a means to initiate characters into the insanity that is OI. The ranks are quest based and are fun in nature. Please refer to the WoW Guild Ranking page for more information. Ranks are for use on the forums only.
Starwars Galaxies Specific
Faction Status
Must be Rebel or Neutral. If you must go Imperial to complete a quest and/or get a certain item, you must remove yourself from the guild and will be accepted back when your Rebel status is re-established.
Player Versus Player (PvP)
- Bounty hunters may not hunt rebels. The only exceptions to this rule are:
- The target gives you explicit permission to hunt them.
- The target is a bounty hunter known to kill other rebels.
- The target has been marked by Oi or the rebel community as being fair game for any number of reasons.
- Common courtesy during PvP is a must. Don't send hate tells, don't t-bag, be respectful of your opponent and your team mates until they give you reason to do otherwise. Being Imp doesn't make them non-human!
Loot
- Before entering an instance, most possible loot drops will be called by members of the group. If the group agrees on this and no one has objections, you MUST honor it. If someone has called the Master Cloak, but you kind of want it too, you may under no circumstances * If items are not called, and no one needs an item for a reason other than selling. You may roll a die or chance cube with your group to determine the winner.
"Exploiting"
- Exploitation of the game or cheating in any way will not be tolerated. Even if technically it is legal, if people frown upon it as cheap, chances are the guild does too. This includes Base Farming!
Guild Ranking
TBA, working out the final details
Age of Conan (AoC) Specific
Guild Rankings
What to do to earn rank? Volunteer. This includes being an officer. If you feel you're a good candidate for officer and can handle the stresses of the position post on the forums and/or speak to the guild leader.
Current Guild Ranking/Political System: Cimmerian, this will change as we gain more members to a more democratic system, motivated by the members.
Open Dialog for change
We pride ourselves in the ability to discuss our issues. If you have a problem/concern, please don't hesitate to bring it up on the forums or with either the guild leader or one of the officers. An open door for communication is one of the keys to making a community flourish and feel more like a family.
PvP - Player versus player
- Players are encouraged to defend themselves whenever necessary. If a player is "griefing" you (stealing all of your quest creatures as you make to attack and has done so repeatedly etc.) take action. Don't stand idly by and take their taunts, insults, whatever. The game is open PvP for a reason.
- There are numerous guilds/players that are on our "KoS" (Kill on Sight) list. Please keep appraised of this list and take action against the players/guilds when appropriate. The list can be found on the AoC section of our forums. Be aware that doing so might put your virtual life at risk - and get you/the guild on their guild/personal KoS list.
- RP and PvP - Some of the guilds RP (role-play) bad guys, and only engage others when it's appropriate to do so in a role-playing fashion. If you're going to engage them in combat - take the time to engage in some discussion either before or after their demise.
RP-Role Play
Since Cimmeria (the server OI is based on) is a RP-PvP server, all members are encouraged to engage in RP in ALL open channels (namely any channel that is not guild chat). Please take the time to develop a basic story-line for your character and role play that character story when you are able. Tying in the guild "enlightened" theme, (illuminatus is essentially enlightened) into your character and role-playing that along with your character story together (although daunting) will only add to the mystery of the "person" roaming the world of Hyboria.
You do not need to be a hardcore role player to be a part of OI in AoC, but you do need to respect your fellow gamers who do choose to participate. It is a role playing server so play along occasionally and avoid "LOL" etc. try to put yourself in the character - you'll be surprised at the dynamics you discover.
Loot
Hit need if you need, greed otherwise. The loot timer is REALLY short so you need to make your decisions quickly. If you roll on something that has NO use for your class, expect some serious backlash from your party members.
Champions Online Specific
Open World Conduct
We do expect members of the supergroup to behave appropriately when wearing the V.O.I.D. Knight tag. Though PvP is consentual, it is still easy to grief other players in the Champions Online gameworld by camping spawns, stealing kills and making it difficult for others to complete PvE quests and goals. Remember, you can't spell V.O.I.D. without OI! As members of the Order of Illuminatus family, we do not condone this sort of behavior. Though we cannot stop others from doing it, we attempt to promote our own agenda of respect towards each other and our fellow gamers, hoping to lead by example.
Loot Rules
Since loot can help make or break a character build, dropped loot when teaming with guildies should be on a need/greed basis, set by the team leader. By default, you should only roll need on items that are upgrades to your current gear. Rolling greed on everything else is perfectly acceptable. Also, since crafting is advanced by breaking down many loot drops, before you break up your team for the day/evening, see if there is any loot you can pass along to someone in a different specialty than you to help them advance their crafting.
PvP - Player versus player
PvP in Champions Online is fully consentual. Duals and/or the PvP Arena system are voluntary and no member of the V.O.I.D. Knights is required to participate. We do, however, encourage it and support our PvP'ers. We have talented PvP'ers and are glad when we earn recognition for our accomplishments.
Exploiting
Exploitation of the game or cheating in any way will not be tolerated. Even if technically it is legal, if people frown upon it as cheap, chances are the guild does too. If you have a question, you may want to avoid the behavior until you can confirm with an officer.
Supergroup Ranks and Open Government
The Champions Online game currently has 4 ranks for its Supergroup structure. The Leader rank is an expanding council, where one leader is elected for every 20 members in the guild. Ideally, we would like to see the leader council be jointly held by 3-5 chosen/elected guildmembers. The minimum requirement to be a guild leader is 6 months of service and an active online presence. Though there is limited large-scale activities within the game at the moment, it is the responsibility of this council of leaders to ensure the guild is representing the OI family properly and helping the members of the V.O.I.D. Knights supergroup experience and enjoy as much of the game content as possible. They are also responsible for helping organize the guild bank and awarding/distributing resources as needed by the members. By extension, the officers of the group should be looking to help extend the same pattern of assistance and support as the guild leaders. We estimate the need for 1-2 officers per leader to properly support the population and be available as much as possible.
Elections for all positions should be held at least every 6 months. If for no other reason than to vote "confidence" or "no confidence" that the current GL/officers are maintaining the interests of the members.
We pride ourselves in the ability to discuss our issues. If you have a problem/concern, please don't hesitate to bring it up on the forums or with either the guild leader or one of the officers. An open door for communication is one of the keys to making a community flourish and feel more like a family. In Champions, we will strive to keep the guild resources and governance as transparent and accesible as possible to all members of the supergroup.
Initiates and Joining
At any point in time, any member may extend a guild invite to a player in Champions. We ask our core members to use their best discretion when doing so. Initiates are required to fill out an application on the Oi Boards. At the point of posting the application, officers and members will have two full weeks to play with and get a feel for the user in our community. We encourage you to team with new applicants and extend them the same courtesy you would any other member. Barring significant objections, at the end of the "burn-in" period, the initiate will be extended an invitation for full membership rights.
RP-Role Play
Champions Online has no official RP server, so you may be sharing your space with those that chose to do anywhere from light to heavy role play. The V.O.I.D. Knights has no RP requirement or restriction, but OI as a larger structure has traditionally been very supportive of RP'ers and storytellers. Even if you do not wish to RP, we request you respect your fellow gamers who do choose to participate.
Having Fun
You're a super hero! Go have some fun! Save the world! It's what we're here for!
Fallen Earth Specific
Chapter Intent
To offer a supportive and engaging environment for players to experience while adventuring through the wastelands. The Discordians aim to engage players who want to pursue the factional paths of: CHOTA / Vista / Traveler.
How does one join "The Discordians"?
As we traverse the wastelands we periodically meet people that might seem like Discordian material. If you enjoy gaming with them, chances are the rest of the clan will as well! Encourage them to apply at the guild site. After they post their application an officer / leader will be in contact with them for a brief interview. If all goes well they'll be admitted and be gaming with the clan in no time!
Clan ranks / promotions:
How do I become an officer?
Express interest! Express desire through contacting one of the leaders of the clan and when votes come due for specific roles (officers, PvP leaders, PvE leaders) nominate yourself or encourage your friends to do the same. The chapters membership will formally vote you into your position.
How do I earn a promotion out of my "initiate" rank? Be active, social and friendly. Although these might seem like very vague responses ultimately if you are a "good" guild member (failing to be selfish, rude, disrespectful etc) then you'll earn your next rank. Time in the initiate rank will vary on the person given their play schedule.
Rank names: To be determined by the membership. These can be changed repeatedly.
Open World Conduct
We expect members of the clan to behave appropriately when wearing clan tag (The Discordians). Therefore, playing in the world requires a certain amount of respect for your fellow player - enemy or not.
It is easy to grief other players in Fallen Earth. Camping spawns, stealing kills and making it difficult for others to complete their goals - intentionally - is strongly discouraged. As members of the Order of Illuminatus family, we do not condone this sort of behavior. Though we cannot stop others from doing it, we attempt to promote our own agenda of respect towards each other and our fellow gamers, hoping to lead by example.
PvP Rules of Engagement:
PvP in FE is based on "zones" and "control points" and is therefore completely consentual. If you opt to enter into a conflict zone you are agreeing to PvP.
Much like the World Conduct listed above we strive to lead by example, not just within our clan but through the game. Though there are areas of OPEN PvP in FE, letting people clear the resurrection chamber before engaging is just one way to show a splinter of respect for the player (not the faction).
Loot / Gear Rules:
Since most items in FE are not bind on pickup or equip, members are strongly encouraged to "pay it forward" with gear. If you get an item, such as a trench coat (low level back equipped item) feel free to drop it into the clan vault for someone else to use.
Group Looting: Often times when teamed with clan mates the loot will be played on "free for all" allowing everyone to loot as they wish. If this is NOT to your liking please say so in team chat.
The basic premise of loot in FE is: Support your family, your clan, and then your friends. If you can donate the armor / weapons / crafting component feel free to do so.
Scavenging / Harvesting loots:
When a boss is killed the loot may be put on "master" looter to control who gets what materials for the guild craftsmen. Who gets the materials will be contingent upon discussion previously to the engagement.
Vault usage:
As stated above please use the vault as you can. Take what you can use in the moment. Give what you can in order to help your clan mates grow further. Please note: the V.I.P vault in S1 is used to house the Omnicron book quest books.
Anyone above the "initiate" rank has the ability to donate / withdraw from the clan vault.
Exploiting: Please see the general Order of Illuminatus Rules.
RP-Role Play
Fallen Earth is a one server game. As such it has no official RP server, so you may be sharing your space with those that chose to do anywhere from light to heavy role play, or none at all. Though The Discordians have no RP requirement or restriction OI as a larger structure has traditionally been very supportive of RP'ers and storytellers. Even if you do not wish to RP, we request you respect your fellow gamers who do choose to participate.
Communication policy:
We pride ourselves in the ability to discuss our issues. If you have a problem/concern, please don't hesitate to bring it up on the forums or with either the guild leader or one of the officers. An open door for communication is one of the keys to making a community flourish and feel more like a family. In Fallen Earth, we will strive to keep the guild resources and governance as transparent and accessible as possible to all members of the clan - without bogging down the process.
Please note that this charter is superseded by the overarching Order of Illuminatus community constitution. As such, the rules listed in the main charter are VERY important to the FE chapter. Some of our individual chapter rules might seem redundant, and that is for effect.
Final Notes
These rules are a compilation of conversations over Vent/TS, officer chat, and discussion over guild chat relating to guild behavior, they are not the opinion of one individual.
ALL MEMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO UNDERSTAND AND LIVE BY THESE RULES AT ALL TIMES WHEN THEY HAVE THE ORDER OF ILLUMINATUS TAG ABOVE THEIR AVATARS HEAD. ORDER OF ILLUMINATUS IS NOT JUST A GUILD - IT'S A PLAYSTYLE.
